JTE Tankers streamline organisation
John T. Essberger (JTE) is renowned for its quality and flexibility. Founded in 1924 as Atlantic Tank Reederei by the tank ship pioneer John T. Essberger the company has a long tradition in the transport of liquids. Essberger Tankers is a leading operator of chemical tankers within Europe. The fleet consists of 22 highly sophisticated vessels capable
of carrying a wide range of high grade chemicals, and the long term future of the company is underpinned by an ambitious new building program.

JTE Dry Cargo, the tramp division of the group, is a ship owner in its own right with a fleet of modern bulk carriers, sophisticated multi-purpose tonnage and container vessels as well as other purpose-built ships such as cement tankers. Caring for the main assets – the ships - is one of the core businesses of a reputable ship owner. The Ship Management division of John T. Essberger has more than 100 years of experience in keeping fleets running. Since DAL – Deutsche Afrika-Linien and John T. Essberger commenced shipping we have managed all of their owned ships. Today the managed fleet incorporates chemical tankers, bulk carriers, container ships and cement carriers, owned by the group as well as on behalf of third party interests.
Our Quality Management System has been approved by Lloyd's Register of Shipping Quality Assurance Limited to the standards of ISO 9001: 2000, and the safety and environmental protection requirements of the ISM code (IMO A 741 (18)).
Presently our Offices in Hamburg and Dordrecht manage about 40 vessels.
